Sewjo Saturday, a day late.

Hello Everyone,

I'm late this weekend. Just never got my butt in gear and got pictures taken for this post. Lazy, lazy... LOL

I've been working on a scrappy quilt. Putting 4" squares together into 4patches.

I went thru my scrap bins and started pulling leftover charm squares or pieces small enough to fussy cut. Long time readers will recognise a lot of these prints.

I have a handful or so of leftover jelly roll strips  that I am going to use also.

~~~~~~
Looks like I'm using up those leftover strips at the right time :)
Have you seen this challenge from Denise, over at Pieced Brain?
A fun challenge to use up some leftover strips. Your project can be big or small. And some lovely prizes to go with the challenge too! Come on over and join us.
Have a great day!
April goal...met!
Hello Everyone,
Hope it's warm and sunny for you all. It's just gorgeous here. I love this time of year.
Here's what I've been working on this week.
I finished quilting and binding this 9patch charity quilt! (The top was donated to Jess at the Q&N. She asked if I could quilt it up.)
It's my April goal for ALOYF, yah!! It's mid April and I got it done.
 I finished piecing this charity top too. The Gals and I at the Q&N all made some blocks, they sent theirs to me, and I pieced it. (The wind was playing havoc with my photo shoot. lol)
I know, it came out to 2 different designs. I looked and looked at these rows and determined that in order to fix it so that I only had either the large diamonds as a secondary pattern OR the chevrons, I would have to change some of the blocks in a few of the rows (rotate them around) and I really don't want to take it apart that much. Sigh~ So I think I'll just leave it as is. I still think it's cute and I don't think a child will mind, do you?
I even got 2 of my April X and + blocks done! yah
Wishing you all a Blessed and Happy Easter!
More charity work this week
Hello All,
It's Sewjo Saturday with Kim.
It's been a gorgeous week out. I've spent a lot of time outdoors and not very much at the sewing machine.
I did some more work on this charity quilt.
I have a bout a third of it done. Need to get working on it.
And I started piecing this one together. This one is going to Harmony Home in TX.
Thats all on the quilting front. Hope you had a great week.
sewjo Saturday, and April goal
Hello, hello Everyone,
Hope you are all well and enjoying a bit of Spring. We are going to have a gorgeous week next week, highs in the low 70s, just PERFECT :)
I got a bit more quilting done this past week than usual, yah!
I had a heck of a time with this RR. You know how some projects everything just seems to go wrong?
Well thats what happened here. I started cutting out HSTs', instead of geese blocks. I measured wrong, numerous times. I sewed things on in the wrong spots. You name, I probably did it. LOL. But at last it is done and on it's way to the next person in line.
Then I got out this charity quilt and got it basted and started to quilt it. It took me forever, it seems, to figure out how I wanted to quilt it. I wanted to do pine trees and bears, but thankfully I stopped myself and reminded myself that I was pretty new to FMQing, and I should probably practice more before I attempted that.
So I am doing meandering stars. It's a lot of repetitiveness, but it will give me good practice.
This is also my goal for April. I need to finish quilting this and get it bound.
Have a great weekend all!
Around the Ridge
(This is very, very strange.... I started making this post on Sunday, March 30th. I scheduled it to publish... I THOUGHT I had it scheduled for April 1st.... but it published itself AHEAD of 3 other posts I had out this month, with a date of March 4th... how weird! But here it is again, just in case you missed it. lol)
Hello Everyone,
I haven't done an Around the Ridge post in ages. So I thought I'd show you a few things today.
My Daughter took all of these beautiful photos!
We bought some fruit trees earlier this year, they are now starting to leaf out.
We have a few kinds of apple, pears, a fig and a plum.
We also have berries.
Cranberries, currants, blueberries... and grapes :)
It will be so wonderful to start harvesting fruit! The trees will take a few years, of course, they are just little things. But we should get some berries this year.
The Red Bud is in full bloom. I love Red Bud, look at that color!
This is my first rose, it's on a south facing slope and blooms first every year (interesting it's almost the exact color of Red Bud :) ).
I also have a few Iris's blooming.
I hope Spring is warming you up...... We are now having a bit of Winter here. Its been sooo mild this year, we have some rain and possible snow coming over the next few days...but it will only be around a day or so, then we'll be back to the sun.
Have a great day.
