Under my needle

Hello Everyone,

Thanks for dropping by. The weather is nice, a bit of sun and warm temps heading our way.

This cute little monkey quilt is for the sister of the little boy we made the doggy quilt for.

I should of had this quilted by now, but what with the holidays, having to order batting, then discovering I was out of suitable thread.... not to mention that tradgety has struck this family and the sweet baby this quilt was intended for has died :(

So, I will finish it this week, and get it in the mail on Friday.

Whats under your needle? I love comments, so don't be shy :)

Have a great day.

Finished top, and Paint chip challenge

Hello out there,

Hope you are all well. We are getting some nice, warmer weather this week. Going to be sunny! It will feel good after the cold snow.

This is my Spring version of A Quilt for All Seasons (well, not all of it, that would ruin the surprise:), Jess's December 2012 mystery quilt. You can contact Jess here, to get this pattern.

It's a great pattern, once again, and what makes it really unique is you can make one 65"x65" quilt for each season, or you can leave off the borders, put all four seasons together, and make a king size quilt.

~~~~
The Quilt and Needle is also putting on a Paint Chip Challenge, and you still have time to enter.
This is going to be a fun challenge. Here is my paint chip card.
Asiago, Oatlands Subtle Taupe, and Smoked Oyster. I can use one, two or all three colors in my challenge. I have an idea in mind already, now for some fabric shopping!
Hope you pop over and join us, even if you just want to see some eye candy and vote for your favorite.
You can learn more about both of these over at the Quilt and Needle blog, or on the forum.
Snow, and some New Fabrics
Hello Everyone,
Baby it's cold outside! We are having a very cold, cold snap here in CA. It was 22 when I woke up this morning, with the lowest windchill over night at -2! BRRR.
This is what it looked like when we woke up Thursday morning.
Isn't it beautiful! I love a crisp, clear day. Bright blue sky, crisp, clean snow...
The kids are having a good time playing in it. Isaiah loves to watch the big boys plow it with the tractor, and 'help' out by going for a ride.
As much as I enjoy snow, my arthritic body doesn't. So I mostly stay indoors. This week I got these in the mail to play with :)
These posted above will be made into a quilt for my oldest. He is in need of a big quilt, he's 6'3" tall! And hasn't had a new quilt in quite a few years. So it's time. I have the pattern all drawn out, I need to draft it though, getting all the sizing/etc right. The quilt will be made of hexies and triangles.
I also bought this beautiful Shabby Chic piece.
It was on sale, and just happen to jump in my cart ;) lol I received a lovely FQ from my bf Carol for Christmas, which this piece will fit right in with. I have no thoughts on what I will do with them yet. But they are lovely to look at.
I hope you all are having a fabulous weekend.
Pats' Gems
Hello Everyone,
I'm finally getting around to posting pictures of my 4-patch quilt. I've called it Pat's gems.
I sent it to my best friend Carol for Christmas. Here Mom's name was Pat. Pat had owned a jewelry store at one time and loved her jewelry.
Pat passed away early last year. Every time I pulled this top out to work on it, Pat and Carol popped into my head. So I knew it had to go to Carol, as sort of a memorial quilt.
Here's part of the back.
Carol says she loves it, and uses it everyday :)
I will be doing a follow along to make this quilt....when I find the time. lol
Have a great day.
2013
A New Year...
I hope it's a great one for you all.
2012 was a year full of big ups and downs for me and my family. A new baby, a wild fire threatening our home, an eye injury to my dh (thankfully he still has full sight). My blog has 'suffered' and my goals were not even part way met...lol... but thats ok...
because it's a New Year....
 and quilting goals and blogs are not as important as family...as much as I enjoy them.
My quilting goals last year was to get as much of this stack, and the stack I didn't photograph, quilted.
Um, I don't  think I quilted ONE of them!! Instead, I made more tops to add to the pile and new quilts for babies and best friends :)
So, lets not look back, but look ahead.
I have a fantastic new machine, and a walking foot.
I am thinking of joining Fiber of all Sorts and her year of finishes.
A Lovely Year of Finishes
Just so that I can help myself out and start in on a new goal, of getting ONE of these tops finished each month.
That might be hard to do...
I love Jess's mystery quilts so much, I love testing for her, that I have a hard time saying no every 3 months.
I have two quilts right now that I want to make for my boys.
Then there is Christmas, I want to be better about making gifts this year, and that means starting early.
And a baby who is getting ready to walk, which means he will be getting into EVERYTHING.
So, we shall see what the New Year brings to me quilty wise.
I hope you have some good quilty goals to strive to this year.
Have a great day.
