Quilt-as-you-go table runner and some Spring pictures

Linking up with Karen.

Linking up with Quiltstory.

I whipped up this cute table runner yesterday. It's made from the charm pack of Fandago that I won.

It's quick and easy...

 I made a quick tutorial for it on the Q&N.

 Looks like Spring is finally arriving. Slowly but surely. Here is a few pics for you.

The RedBud still looks funny. As it's just a bunch of sticks with some buds attached right now.

It wont leaf out very much, until the blooms are starting to die.

Here is the first Lilac blooms.

Very similar to the RedBud...but it has it's leaves first.

And a pretty little wildflower, not sure what it is.

Hope you all are getting a little bit of sunshine and warm weather.

Sneak peeks and another prize

Hello everybody!

I hope those of you in inclement/bad weather are doing ok. My thoughts and prayers to those in the path of hurricanes.

I shall have to go take some pictures of our Redbud. The flowers are finally starting to open. I just love their color.

For today, I have a look at some lovely fabric I won a month or so ago, in the Pillow talk blog hop. I want to thank Lissa (of Moda Lissa) for the great fabrics!

They came in this adorable light green with chocolate dots (reminds me of my favorite ice cream, mint chocolate chip, lol!) bag.

Fandango, by Kate Spain!! And some Lily and Will from Anne Sutton!!

Fandango has some great colors. These are charm packs, so 42 pieces in all. Some from each of these color ways.

Lilly and Will, so sophisticated! A charm pack too.

And now for some sneak peeks of the disappearing 16 patches I've been working on. You'll be able to see the whole things in late June, sorry for the wait :)

The first one used some off-white tone on tones I had in my stash. This was fun design. I just hope that I can write it up well, as it's a little tricky.

This one I was going to use a solid white, or tone on tone white. But then I remembered I had some of this gorgeous gray Sunkissed in my stash!

Perfect!! I think I'll call it A Lovely Sunkissed walk in Central Park, as that's the 3 major fabric lines in this quilt. LOL

 Hope you enjoyed my sneak peeks.

Have a great day!

A prize and a pillow

First, I'd like to send a big thank you to  Deb Strain. I won a giveaway on her blog a few weeks ago. And my pretty prize came in the mail yesterday.

 Deb blogs at Inside the Studio. She hand paints her creations to get put on greeting cards, mugs, fabric, etc. She works for Moda, and I can't wait to see her new fabric line this Summer!

Thank you Deb, I love my gifts!! That butterfly card is PERFECT.
~~~~~~~~
Now for my finish this week. I posted a small tutorial type post, more tips than anything, on the Q&N on curved seams.
Here is the pillow I made with my curves.
As you can see, I am not much of a pillow maker. I didn't have a pillow form, so made one. And I made it too small.
 Oh well, the quilting looks good at least ;)
Linking up with Karen today...and with H&M today (tuesday).
Not much sewing..
 Going on over here. I've dabbled a bit with some more DP16 patches. Nothing I can show you now though.
 On the Q&N forum we are doing a few swaps. A friendship swap, making little tiny bags, they are 5"x 6", so cute! We'll put some thread in them and maybe a few trinkets.
We've done one mug rug swap. This is the one I made for Deb.
And here is the one she made for me. I love it, thank you Deb!
 We are having such a good time with these swaps. So we are doing another mug rug one, with a Summer theme. I like to wait till I have my secret friends name, before I pick out fabrics. That way I can use colors and such that she likes.
I think Spring has finally come to the Ridge. Here's what our mornings have been looking like.
 Lovely sunrises, with a bit of clouds thru out the day. Been in the 50s and 60s, so not too bad. Chilly enough for fires in the morning though.
I hope to get some sewing done this week!
Have a great day!
DP16 progress....and a finish
Good Tuesday morning! You know what that means....
Fresh Poppy Design
So here is my progress on my DP16 patches. I decided to go with this block.
I have 9 blocks, 2 each of all of them, except this red/blue.
I'll be ordering some solid white this week, to get these blocks in a quilt top.
~~~~~~~~

And now a finish.... This is my FQ bag.

  My Grandma is 88 yrs old. She and her Mother both quilted, crochet and knitted.

 My Grandma has headaches and dizzy spells, her eyes get tired easily....but she still can make her newest Great-Grand DD a quilt! I hope I am still quilting at age 88!!

So she emailed me a few days ago, and asked if I would make her another purse. She loved the one I gave her last year for her birthday, but needs one a bit bigger.

I hope Grandma likes her new purse!

A table runner

Linking up with Karen! I love doing this, thanks Karen.

sew many ways

If you all read my post over at the Q&N, you know I've decided to really start doing some machine quilting this year. Of course, I hope to get back to my hand quilting soon too, but I need to fix my hand first :)

I have 3 times as many of these ....

 That need to be quilted. So I need to do some machine quilting too.

I got the right presser foot for doing some straight line quilting.

Just some simple, echo quilting.

I still have a problem with getting my backing nice and smooth.

I know...lots of crinkles....

The front doesn't look too bad though.

A happy Spring runner.

I figure I'll have plenty of practice this Summer :)

Advice, comments, helpful tips are all very much appreciated.

Have a great day.
